Altered Images Creativity Challenge

Sometimes the hardest part of making art is figuring out what to do with a blank page! These Altered Image Challenge backgrounds give young artists something to respond to while still leaving the final artwork completely up to them.

The set includes 9 different “blank-canvas” backgrounds designed to be transformed with drawing, collage, or a combination of materials. Kids can add to what’s already there, change its meaning, turn simple shapes into something unexpected, or use the background as a jumping-off point for an entirely new idea.

Directions and creative prompts are included to help kids get started without telling them exactly what to make—making this a great resource for creative thinking, imagination, and flexible problem-solving.

Use the challenges in an art center, choice-based classroom, homeschool space, early-finisher station, or anytime a young artist needs a little help getting past the blank page.
